Pottsgrove Wrestling Club is a non-profit organization that serves boys and girls from grades K-8 in the Pottsgrove Community.
Our goal is to develop and grow an organization that is welcoming, instructional, and develops not only the child’s physical skills, but their confidence.
General Information:
Competition in youth wrestling is based on the wrestler’s age, weight, skill level, and years of experience. For weekly meet match-ups, each wrestler’s Win/Loss record is also taken into consideration. The goal is to get each wrestler as close to a .500 record as possible by creating
match-ups accordingly.
Practices are evenings from Early November until Late February. (exact days for age groups to be determined)
Practice is held in the Pottsgrove Middle School auxiliary gym (This is subject to change).
Team Meets are Saturdays, usually in the morning.
There are several optional tournaments wrestlers can attend during the season.

Practice Schedule:
Pottsgrove Middle School
Practice starts around the second week of November
Novice (First and Second Year Wrestlers) and Advanced Wrestlers will have practice 2-3 days a week. Practices days and times will be determined and communicated to wrestler's family at the beginning of the season.
Practice Attire: Shorts or sweatpants, and a t shirt. Only clean wrestling shoes are permitted on the mat. Wrestlers must change into their wrestling shoes once they arrive and change them again after practice. If you do not have shoes or can't purchase them at this time, The club has a bin of shoes that we loan out. These are shoes that have been donated to us as wrestlers grow out of them. If you do not have shoes, they can go on the mat in their socks.
Head Gear: All wrestlers must have head gear! We do have a limited supply of head gear that we can loan you. Head gear can be purchased at Schuylkill Valley Sports and Dicks Sporting Goods. There are also several online stores. They can practice without it until you get it but everyone must have it by the time we return from Thanksgiving break.
Hygiene: It is extremely important that you shower/bathe immediately after practice. This is true of all sports but very important in wrestling due to the constant physical contact with others. Wrestling shoes and headgear should be wiped down regularly. There are several skin conditions that are commonly seen in wrestling. Any type of rash or new areas of concern need to be reported to a coach and checked by a doctor. If your child has a cold sore, he or she can not wrestle until it is completely healed. Any open cuts or scrapes need to be covered with a band aide or wrap. Your child should not come to practice if they are sick. All of these guidelines are meant to protect your wrestler and their teammates.
